About the artist

I have been interested in art since a very early age. Inspired by drawings of Roger Troy Peterson’s bird illustrations found in the Red Rose tea packages, I began drawing birds. Throughout elementary and middle school I continued drawing and experimenting with colors using a variety of mediums. In high school I took art classes continuing to pursue my artistic inclinations. At the university level the art classes I took proved invaluable toward building my knowledge with multiple mediums, perspectives, shadowing, light, depth, and mood.   In my twenties I became interested in drawing and painting landscape scenes in oils. These were sold to individuals for their private collections. During my career as an educator my interest in art continued, but sadly there was very little time to create art works. Once retired I was able to restart my passion for art. I had the privilege to visit great art museums in France. I have always been fascinated with how seasons, shadows, twilight, sunrises, and sunsets create marvelous settings for any painting. Inspired by 19th and 20th century artists; Cézanne, Gauguin, Matisse, Monet, Manet, Picasso, Pissarro, Renoir, and Van Gogh, whose art works in my view featured a kaleidoscopic color spectrum which I consistently use in my art creations.
